How Kate Johnston makes incredible slip decorated large vases She does a combination hand building and throwing technique, building them up on a potters wheel. To decorate she starts with a solid layer of slip on the leather hard piece, carves the border, the main pattern, inlays contrasting slip into the background and finally applies an ash glaze on selected elements of the pattern. |
