I take pride, not in the “art” of ceramics, but the “craft”. My shapes are simple, so I need to get the glazes on evenly and without surface defects. Pieces have cross sections of even thickness because I work carefully on the potters wheel and trim leather hard pieces to finish the feet. I want to make ware that is strong, durable, with glazes that resist leaching and cutlery marking, crazing and shivering. And I want to show other potters how to improve the quality of their ware.
