Introduction
Search engines often enter this site through an entry in this section, the Glossary. We use these glossary entries to glue together records spread across multiple areas (sections).
In recent years a brain drain in ceramics manufacturing and even pottery know-how has been happening in many places. In industry, it is common for technicians to have very little basic knowledge about the formulation and adjustment of bodies, glazes and engobes or know about materials and testing. More and more potters are depending on premixed solutions, their knowledge does extend too far outside their shopping cart. In many countries a core group of potters is preserving the knowledge, this site is mostly dedicated to them. Do you want to take the next off-ramp on this highway we have been on in recent years? Are you working in industry QC, R&D or just "disaster management" of all the production problems being experienced, and want to start learning? Do you want to understand and take control of your materials, process and products, rather than just blindly use expensive products from suppliers? You are in the right place!
