A frit substitution was done in an iron red glaze. Development of the iron micro-crystals has been affected. But the new glaze appears too refractory; the iron is there, in the percentage known to work, but the crystals are not growing, so the glaze becomes dark brown. This needs a higher melt fluidity to encourage precipitation of iron-rich crystals.
