These are used for mixing drywall mud and can be very effective for mixing large batches of body and glaze slurries. They are durable, powerful and inexpensive. However, they are intended for plaster, not clay so mixes containing hyper-fine particled powders may not respond completely to this type of device. Aging a day or two and mixing again would certainly help.
