The inside surface of this test mold was a product of a poor plaster pour (on the left bubbles in the slurry were trapped on the underside of the 3D-printed case mold). We potters are not great plaster mixers! Can this section of the surface be repaired? Yes. Shortly after pouring this, I mixed another 50g batch of plaster. Before applying it I wet the existing surface (since even freshly set plaster can be quite absorbent and would extract the water from the new material). I then applied the new mix using a custom 3D-printed rib whose curvature matched the inner contour of the mold. The result is on the right.
