Every pallet of a 1500 bag bentonite shipment, a material used to make P700, had to be sampled. On testing each one, dark-coloured particulates were found. The worst pallets got a second round of testing. Ware and tiles were made, clear-glazed and fired to cone 10R (with heavy reduction). Samples were also prepared and returned to the manufacturer for further testing in their lab. As it turned out, the dark particles were not iron-containing; only a few tiny fired specks were found.
