AI at Digitalfire

We use AI for many tasks in creating and maintaining this website. To us, using AI is like writing code. Code is the whole reason Digitalfire.com exists and has existed. We write software and provision web servers that enable accomplishing tasks far beyond the number of people we have. Like code, AI enables us to do things we otherwise could not. Here are a few:

• Creation of certain pictures which are not practical to contract, take or make (where this is done, the prompt used to make the photo is given with it). When an idea needs to be conveyed there is not substitute for the right picture.
• Assistance in creating photos (the mug below is from a low resolution photo which only showed part of it against a cloth background; the AI completed the mug, put it in the hand and removed the background). Some of our AI created photos are awaiting replacement as real ones become available.
• Refinement of titles and text in posts and articles (to make things clearer, increase engagement).
• Facebook posts (Meta itself is the world's leading investor in AI code and hardware).
• Writing better and more code in more languages for more platforms.
• Answer certain ceramics related technical questions better.
• It is an idea-machine. And it can distill our prose into intent we don’t even see.
• It helps us discover things that might otherwise be overlooked.

Future uses of AI are impossible to predict. At its extreme, AI tools are going to enable the first solopreneur billionaire. We are not extreme users.

AI created the hand, upscaled the picture and removed the background.

AI created this porcelain bowl with layered iron red and rutile blue glazes. This will be replaced when a photo becomes available.

AI made this in response to a prompt to create a coffee mug with a shape having inherent strength to keep it from warping to oval during firing. We made a mold based on this.

In 2023 AI was already able to make a picture like this for “ceramic fashion”. And generate an entire marketing site. We then replaced the pictures and text, keeping the layout.

AI recreated this picture of my first car, not perfect but good enough.
