Error: API server returned an invalid response for schoolsInformation | The Art Department is committed to facilitating a comprehensive approach in the study of studio art. We offer courses in a range of artistic disciplines including ceramics, life drawing, painting, and design. Students work closely with our faculty and their peers to develop their skills and understanding of art making. Courses are taught by professional artist/professors with years of experience in both making and teaching art. Whether a student’s goals are personal or vocational, all courses emphasize the techniques and craft of making while also providing students the opportunity to develop their potential for aesthetic awareness, aesthetic expression, and critical analysis. From life drawing to wheel throwing and everything in between, we encourage our students to explore the breadth of their individual interests and point of view through rigorous and personalized training. In class critiques emphasize constructive feedback so that students can form their own vocabulary for viewing and talking about art. We strive to provide a qualitative, supportive, and in-depth art education to all students. Those pursuing an associate degree in Studio Arts for Transfer will leave ELAC with a robust foundation of skills and understanding in their chosen discipline and the necessary tools to continue developing their studio practice. |
