Information	The Department of Materials Science and Engineering was established in 1993 through the initiative of Dr. Elias L. Calacal, the 4th President of Mariano Marcos State University. This very active department was tasked to offer three (3) engineering programs namely: Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Ceramic Engineering. However, only the BS Ceramic Engineering was continued while the BS Metallurgical and Mining Engineering were not offered due to lack of faculty to teach the professional subjects. The department had acquired state-of-the-art equipment such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD) Analyzer, X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analyzer, Scanning Electron Microscope with Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (SEM-EDS), Metallurgical and Optical Microscope for advanced characterization techniques of various materials.
