pH is not a characteristic of powders, but pH of powdered materials is specified as a value @ a specific percentage of solids (e.g. 5%).
Apparatus
1. 125 ml glass stoppered flask
2. Glass beaker 100 ml.
3. PH meter
4. Distilled Water
Procedure:
Weigh 5 gms of the test sample and transfer into the flask. Add a 100 ml. of the distilled water, stopper the flask and shake (for a minute). Allow it to settle for one hour. Calibrate the pH meter and transfer an appropriate amount of the clear aqueous solution from the flask into the beaker. Measure the pH value and report.
