I will make 10 gram balls of a glaze and fire them on 2in by 2in tiles to evaluate their melt flow, glass surface and susceptibility to defects.
This test provides valuable information to help you compare and judge the suitability of glazes. You only need to make 100 grams of glaze in a zip lock bag to do this.
All you need is a clean plaster batt.
