Their data sheet describes it as "high-purity kaolin clay low in iron and alkali content processed for use as a raw material in the rubber, fiberglass, drywall, adhesives, ceramics, and agriculture industry."

Though not as high in purity as some of the other Kaolins Ione Kaolin is an economic source of low iron clay for applications where some impurities can be tolerated. It is a local central California clay, the only kaolin mined in the west of the continent.

Less that 1.5% > 325 mesh (47% minus 2 microns).
