Typecodes Colorant
Metallic based materials that impart fired color to glazes and bodies.

Mechanisms

Body ColorCrSi stains are particularly suitable for the staining of vitreous floor tile bodies. Suitable for all other types of bodies under all firing conditions, but use is limited owing to the tendency of the chrome contents of the colors to flash.
Glaze ColorCrSi stains are suitable for all types of leadless glazes to 1450C. Chrome greens should be used for staining only zinc-free glazes. Chrome-cobalt blue-greens may be used for staining both zinc-free and zinc-containing glazes, the better results generally being obtained with the zinc-free glazes. Additions of stain should not normally exceed 4%. Zircon may be used as an opacifier; tin oxide should never be used. Underglaze Color: Suitable for all methods of underglaze decoration in all firing conditions.
