This glaze utilizes the Glass Coatings and Concepts' (formerly General Color's) GF 106 Frit. This is a substitute for the popular Pemco 286 frit which is no longer available. In tests so far this glaze responds well to all colorants, shows minimal crazing on most porcelains and produces abundant, quick-growing crystals.

Crystalline Glaze Recipe Fara Shimbo
These are from Fara\'s Crystal Glazes book II. |
Glaze Color | Areas not crystallized are opaque where the glaze is thin. Opacity is somewhat streaky. This glaze does not show as much opacity as a glaze containing titanium dioxide would and is a good choice if titanium is to be avoided. |
