You can probably upgrade your INSIGHT for free! ============================== If your serial number starts NW then you can visit our website anytime and download the current version and your serial number will work. New INSIGHT CD ============================== Our new Windows INSIGHT CD is much easier to use. It displays a menu with choices to install, read the manual or readme files, view the training videos, etc. The Mac version now has the videos. As always, however, there is nothing on the CD you cannot get on our site. INSIGHT Linux Version ============================== The Linux version of INSIGHT has been shipping for some time now and is working well. It is identical to the others. We have quite a number of Linux users now and they are generally much more knowledgeable about computers than Windows or Mac users. Remember that the same serial number works on all three versions. INSIGHT Testimonials ============================== Have you noticed how many there are? Check our home page, it displays three at a time and gives you a link to more than 100! New installers ============================== Our Windows Magic of Fire and INSIGHT manual installers use a new engine that we are testing and will move to INSIGHT itself shortly if there are no problems. Free Site License! ============================== We are currently doing a FAX and email campaign to convince educational institutions to use our resources to add ceramic chemistry to their curriculum easily and at low cost. If we have not contacted you and you are interested, please click the contact link on our home page and use a subject of 'INSIGHT site license' and I will tell you about it. Improvement at Digitalfire.com============================== We have fixed problems and added features to the login page. It can be used if you forget your password, to remove duplicate records, change your password, email us, get a new password. This page also supports ceramicmaterials.info which now requires an email and password for login. Problems have been fixed and features added to the shopping cart, register and downloads pages also. New INSIGHT Videos, Manual ============================== We have completely harmonized the videos (in the Learning Center on our web site and on the CD) with the lessons in the instruction manual. We also added more lessons. This has added 50 pages to the tutorial section of the manual. We have redesigned the tutorials and added more pictures with legend numbers to link the text with the pertinent areas of the pictures. New Features in INSIGHT ============================== Until now (in Windows) the INSIGHT, manual, videos and Magic of Fire installers have defaulted to location c:\INSIGHT5x. However new installs now default to \Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\insight5x on the startup drive. You can override this and put it into the traditional location but keep in mind that you must have write privileges to this folder if you are using Windows 2000 or XP (normally not the case unless you are logged in as administrator). In addition reports now print to the users documents folder and the INSIGHT preferences file is saved in the users preferences folder rather than the INSIGHT folder. INSIGHT does more checks at startup for missing, duplicate and badly formatted files and it writes a log file named bootlog.txt at every startup (this can be emailed to us for troubleshooting). The Preferences dialog has quite a few changes (e.g. you can specify your Digitalfire.com email and password for automatic login from INSIGHT). INSIGHT is also faster. We have also done quite a bit of work related to localization so that INSIGHT will translate to other languages better. Digitalfire.ab.ca Being Phased Out ============================== Until recently INSIGHT went to the above website (the former home of ceramicmaterials.info) for lookup. However now it goes to ceramic-materials.com (an alias of ceramicmaterials.info). The search method and data display have been improved also. Older versions of INSIGHT will now display and information page that reminds users to upgrade (when they use the Info buttons in the Oxides and Materials dialogs). OSX INSIGHT Install Location ============================== We have had reports that INSIGHT does not want to run when its folder is put into the Applications folder, however we have not been able to confirm this. If you have problems, leave the INSIGHT folder in your home folder or on the desktop. Send in Your MDT ============================== Please help us maximize the number of materials reported at ceramic-materials.com. Please visit http://digitalfire.com/insight/uploadmdt.php to upload your MDT. We would like to examine it for materials we currently do not have listed and add them to the MDT for your part of the world if appropriate. Thank you. INSIGHT Localization (Language translations) ============================== If you are a language translator for INSIGHT note that we have greatly improved our online translation site. For example, tooltips now appear under control labels they refer to, there are links to pictures of the pertinent INSIGHT window with cross referenced legend numbers to help you see the context. In addition, you can now specify a search word or phrase to limit the items shown and translate only those. You can also tell it to show only outdated and not-done items and there is a help section to demonstrate. The page will new export a file containing all the phrases you have translated so you can run them through your spell checker. Simultaneous translation on single languages my multiple translators is now also supported. Can you help translate INSIGHT so it will run in your countries language? We will give you full credit and work out a profit sharing arrangement for versions sold in your country. At this time we can only do the ones that have western style scripts (others are in the works).
