|Description:||Carbon / iron oxidation|
NotesLignite and lignite contained particles are burned away. Lignite is more difficult to remove than low temperature organics. Sometimes black particles (from ball clays, for example) can remain even after bisque temperature at 1800F (980C). While these might burn readily on their own, when buried in the matrix of a clay body time is needed to fully oxidize them.
