Similar to Albany Slip, a high iron slip that melts very well at cone 10 to a dark brown color. Mined from a deposit discovered in 2003. It has its own support website at www.akclay.com. We have adjusted the chemical analysis from akclay.com so that it properly totals 100 including the LOI (on their site it totals more than 100 even without the LOI).

Steven Bures recommended two cone 8 glazes:
Ohio Clay 50, Custer Spar 25, Wollastonite 10, Silica 10, Red Iron Oxide 5
-With moderate reduction looks similar to old Albany glazes
Custer Spar 28, Silica 20, Frit 3134 20, Ohio clay 20, Wollastonite 12
-Produces a textured brown when thin, and a dark grey green when thick (it's a satin to gloss finish)
