Lead Monosilicate Frit

Oxide Analysis Formula
PbO 85.00% 1.00
SiO2 15.00% 0.66
Oxide Weight 262.59
Formula Weight 262.59

Notes

This is a standard frit formula of 1 molar part of PbO and .66 of SiO2. The powder is light yellow. Some people consider a lead monosilicate to be 1PbO - 1SiO2. Frits of both chemistries are available and they both claim to be lead monosilicate.

Typecodes Frit
Typecodes Flux Source
Materials that source Na2O, K2O, Li2O, CaO, MgO and other fluxes but are not feldspars or frits. Remember that materials can be flux sources but also perform many other roles. For example, talc is a flux in high temperature glazes, but a matting agent in low temperatures ones. It can also be a flux, a filler and an expansion increaser in bodies.
